Quantum Quote: “We’re not magicians. We’re just nerds.” – EnergyOgre’s Motto

People are busy, and we do not usually pay attention to electricity – until the times when it’s not there.

In the 1990s, many states deregulated their electricity utilities. If you are in New York or Texas or other deregulated states, you can now choose your electricity supplier. But, many homeowners are overpaying for electricity without knowing it.

Texas has about 140 authorized retail electricity providers providing consumers with the opportunity to choose. Across the US, different regulatory systems make choosing the right electricity supplier a time-consuming and confusing process.

You might even have experienced being tricked by that “switch your electricity provider – pay less, save more, and receive freebies” tactic. Then, after a month or two – boom! You’re paying triple the low introductory rate,

In Texas, for only $10/month, you can have an expert who will figure out the best energy choice to lower your costs and provide a cleaner and greener country.

Check out this week’s AWESome EarthKind podcast where we interview Jesson Bradshaw.

SuperNova #1. You probably have a spider sense that you should check your insurance coverage. I think people’s intuition tells them that they probably are not in a completely optimized situation. What’s shocking to them is how unoptimized that actually are. If you can cut 25-45% of the cost out, it’s like, “Oh, that’s a lot more than my spider sense was telling me.” If you haven’t changed your provider and you’ve never talked with your provider because you’re in auto pay in two or three years, guaranteed – you’re sub-optimized. You gotta put the work in.

SuperNova #2. I’m not selling electricity. I’m stepping in as a subject matter expert to manage your house like I manage my own – giving you your specific information, your specific demand profile, and what’s the best option for you on a completely agnostic basis. We’ve just aligned ourselves a hundred percent with the customers’ side. We don’t have any margin opportunities with placing people with any particular provider; we don’t get paid by them.

SuperNova #3. Renewables should end up winning in the long run. It’s not because it’s a mandate thing and may not even be a function of trying to meet a climate goal. I think it will happen just by matter of economics.

Most Energized About Today: “I really love that there is this confluence of technology making its way into the energy space. There’s so many things that flow out of our entire society based upon the way we consume energy – from how productive we are, how efficient we are, what that means in terms of wealth distribution – everything. The core of it all was really how we produce and how we consume energy. I’m super excited at what I see – that we’re right on the process. It’s a really exciting time.” – Jesson Bradshaw

Parting Advice: “As an entrepreneur, if anyone else out there is thinking about stepping off into that abyss, if you’ve thought about it and you’re gonna do it, there’s so many opportunities, so many positive things that you can do to change folks around you, your communities, and really be a leader and a contributor. I highly encourage folks to look into that and if you’re not sure – take a leap of faith from time to time. Be an innovator and bring your ideas for the benefit of all of us.” – Jesson Bradshaw
