Clean Energy 1st Step — LED Lightbulbs

One simple, fast, and affordable way to have a positive impact on the environment — and save money — is to change our incandescent lightbulbs to LEDs (Light Emitting Diodes). With incandescent lightbulbs, 90% of the energy produces HEAT, not visible light. That’s why we burn our hands when we touch an incandescent light.

Most of the energy consumed by LEDs, on the other hand, creates visible light. So, instead of using 100 watts of energy for an incandescent, and LED only uses 20 watts to produce the same amount of light. And LEDs last 10–20 times as long as incandescents. So, not only do we save money on our electricity costs — but we save money on lamp replacements, too.
