National Weather Service Report

Scientists have long predicted that increased Greenhouse Gas
concentrations would fuel more frequent and intense extreme weather
events.


The National Weather Service has reported that 2020 is a record year. There were 30 named storms (top winds of 39 mph or greater); 13 became hurricanes (top winds of 74 mph or greater); and six major hurricanes (top winds of 111 mph or greater).

This is the most storms on record, surpassing the 28 from 2005.
