Scientists have long predicted that increased Greenhouse Gas
concentrations would fuel more frequent and intense extreme weather
events.
The National Weather Service has reported that 2020 is a record year. There were 30 named storms (top winds of 39 mph or greater); 13 became hurricanes (top winds of 74 mph or greater); and six major hurricanes (top winds of 111 mph or greater).
This is the most storms on record, surpassing the 28 from 2005.
90% of humanity’s greenhouse gas emissions come from burning fossil
fuels for electricity, heating & cooling, and transportation.
